Xmas & New Year Holidays

Xmas holidays are very special to us as this is when work closes down for 2 weeks and we get a break - yippee!! After our extravagant trip to Thailand last year, this time we stayed at home - well in South Australia anyhow!
Our good friends Ron & Karena had moved to Tumby Bay in the Eyre Peninsula and we did drive over to visit them for a few days after Christmas. They were in Adelaide visiting first and they spent one night with us. Boxing Day morning was very laid back enjoying a morning walk in the Conservation Park we live adjacent and sampling a cappuccino in the new cafe at Hallett Cove Beach.
Terry, Matthew & I set off for Tumby Bay on the 29th December. Terry & I had ben before but then we had taken a very short plane trip across the sea. To drive is much further as you can see from the map. Tumby Bay is just North of Port Lincoln - 630 km from where we live!
We have never driven this trip before so we intended to take it slowly and make some stops along the way. There isn't that much too see and at the time we were in a heatwave so it's a lot more comforatble in the air conditioned car than in the 43 degree heat outside!

Port Germein Jetty - 1532 metres long!

Whyalla - The steel city - everything had a red tinge!
With 43 degrees outside we didn't stay too long!

Port Neill - Cooler and only 1/2 an hour to go!

We had a lovely few days with our good friends. As we had seen a lot of the area on our first visit this was mainly about just catching up and relaxing! Terry & Ron played golf, Matt made new friends and Karena & I just enjoyed the holidays. Adelaide continued to swelter while we were away but luckily after New Year, Tumby Bay cooled right down. One highlight was a visit to Lipson Cove, just a short drive North from them. Absolutely beautiful!! We loved it.
